The Minnesota Twins got a tough win over the Detroit Tigers yesterday at Metrodome with the Twins picking up the W 4 to 3. It was one heck of a game that folks with Twins tickets aren’t likely to forget.
Twins pitcher Matt Guerrier (3.49 ERA) got the win, while Phil Coke (2.80 ERA) took the loss for the Tigers. Brian Duensing went 6.2 solid innings for the Twins, allowed 9 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with one walk and 2 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Twins was Randy Flores (2.89), and Jesse Crain (2.56). The Tigers’s starter Armando Galarraga went 6 innings, allowed 8 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with no walks and 2 strikeouts. Ryan Perry (4.24) also pitched for the Tigers. With the win, Guerrier’s record goes to 3-7, while Coke is at 7-4. Matt Capps earned the save for the Twins, bringing his saves up to 33.
In addition to the 4 runs, the Twins scored 10 hits and committed 2 errors. Danny Valencia led the Twins in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Delmon Young’s 2 hits. Jason Repko had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. Casper Wells and Jhonny Peralta tied for most hits for the Tigers with 3, followed by Will Rhymes with 2 hits. Austin Jackson could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Tigers managed 3 runs, 10 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Joe West, Angel Hernandez, Dan Bellino and Rob Drake. There were 40,186 Twins ticket holders in attendance at Metrodome.
