Tigers lose to White Sox 4-1

The Chicago White Sox took on the the Detroit Tigers yesterday at Comerica Park with the White Sox coming out on top 4 to 1. It was a solid match that aficionados with White Sox tickets won’t soon forget.

White Sox pitcher Edwin Jackson (4.97 ERA) got the win, while Armando Galarraga (4.32 ERA) took the loss for the Tigers. Edwin Jackson went 7 solid innings for the White Sox, allowed 9 hits, no home runs and one earned run with one walk and 6 strikeouts. Also pitching for the White Sox was J.J. Putz (1.82), and Matt Thornton (2.40). The Tigers’s starter Armando Galarraga went 7.2 innings, allowed 8 hits, 2 home runs and 4 earned runs with 5 walks and one strikeout. Eddie Bonine (3.35) also pitched for the Tigers. With the win, Jackson’s record goes to 7-10, while Galarraga is at 3-4. Bobby Jenks earned the save for the White Sox, bringing his saves up to 23.

In addition to the 4 runs, the White Sox scored 9 hits and committed 2 errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the White Sox, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Brandon Inge had the most hits for the Tigers (3), followed by Don Kelly (2), and Austin Jackson (2). Brennan Boesch could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Tigers scored one run, 10 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Jeff Kellogg, Larry Vanover, Jeff Nelson and Mark Carlson. There were 31,770 Tigers ticket holders in attendance at Comerica Park.
