Tigers lose to Rays 6-3

The Tampa Bay Rays challenged the the Detroit Tigers yesterday at Comerica Park with the Rays earning the win 6 to 3. It was one heck of a game that devotees with Rays tickets will definitely cherish. Baseball isn’t the only game in town. See what other cheap sports tickets are out there.

Rays pitcher David Price (2.84 ERA) got the win, while Armando Galarraga (4.48 ERA) took the loss for the Tigers. David Price went 5 innings for the Rays, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 4 walks and 9 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Rays was Chad Qualls (8.02), and Joaquin Benoit (1.33). The Tigers’s starter Armando Galarraga went 5 innings, allowed 5 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with 4 walks and one strikeout. Brad Thomas (4.50), Phil Coke (2.54), and Ryan Perry (4.58) also pitched for the Tigers. With the win, Price’s record goes to 15-5, while Galarraga is at 3-5. Rafael Soriano earned the save for the Rays, bringing his saves up to 32.

In addition to the 6 runs, the Rays scored 11 hits and committed no errors. John Jaso led the Rays in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Evan Longoria’s 2 hits. The Tigers didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Austin Jackson could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Tigers got 3 runs, 7 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Tim McClelland, Andy Fletcher, Mike Everitt and Adrian Johnson. There were 23,932 Tigers ticket holders in attendance at Comerica Park.
