Tigers embarrass Indians at Comerica Park

The Detroit Tigers blew-out the Cleveland Indians yesterday at Comerica Park with the Tigers winning 8 to 1. It was quite a game that followers with Tigers tickets will be talking about for days.

Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander (3.65 ERA) got the win, while Jeanmar Gomez (3.62 ERA) took the loss for the Indians. Justin Verlander went 8 solid innings for the Tigers, allowed 7 hits, one home run and one earned run with one walk and 8 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Tigers was Alfredo Figaro (10.80). The Indians’s starter Jeanmar Gomez went 3 innings, allowed 11 hits, no home runs and 7 earned runs with 3 walks and one strikeout. Frank Herrmann (4.13), Rafael Perez (3.17), Tony Sipp (4.72), and Chris Perez (2.17) also pitched for the Indians. With the win, Verlander’s record goes to 14-8, while Gomez falls to 3-2.

In addition to the 8 runs, the Tigers managed 12 hits and committed no errors. Will Rhymes led the Tigers in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Austin Jackson’s 2 hits. Johnny Damon had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. Shin-Soo Choo had the most hits for the Indians (3), followed by Lou Marson (1). The Indians managed one run, 7 hits and 2 errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Tony Randazzo, Paul Nauert, Brian Gorman and Ted Barrett. There were 35,104 Tigers ticket holders in attendance at Comerica Park.
