Tigers edge Orioles by 2

The Detroit Tigers barely got a “W” over the Baltimore Orioles yesterday at Comerica Park with the Tigers winning 4 to 2. It was quite a game that followers with Tigers tickets will be talking about for days.

Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer (4.61 ERA) got the win, while Brad Bergesen (6.40 ERA) took the loss for the Orioles. Max Scherzer went 7 solid innings for the Tigers, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Tigers was Robbie Weinhardt (9.00). The Orioles’s starter Brad Bergesen went 6 innings, allowed 11 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Matt Albers (5.09) also pitched for the Orioles. With the win, Scherzer’s record goes to 6-6, while Bergesen falls to 3-6. Phil Coke earned the save for the Tigers, bringing his saves up to 1.

In addition to the 4 runs, the Tigers managed 11 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Tigers, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Danny Worth had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. The Orioles didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Orioles managed 2 runs, 7 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Angel Hernandez, Dan Bellino, Rob Drake and Joe West. There were 22,837 Tigers ticket holders in attendance at Comerica Park.
