The Kansas City Royals blasted the Detroit Tigers yesterday at Comerica Park with the Royals triumphant 9 to 2. It was a thrilling night of baseball that anyone with Royals tickets will definitely cherish.

Royals pitcher Zack Greinke (2.14 ERA) got the win, while Edwin Jackson (3.37 ERA) took the loss for the Tigers. Also pitching for the Royals was Bruce Chen (5.78), Kyle Farnsworth (4.63), and Joakim Soria (2.49). Armando Galarraga (5.64), Alfredo Figaro (6.92), and Jeremy Bonderman (9.31) also pitched for the Tigers. With the win, Greinke’s record goes to 14-8, while Jackson falls to 12-7.

In addition to the 9 runs, the Royals managed 12 hits and committed no errors. Willie Bloomquist led the Royals in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Yuniesky Betancourt’s 2 hits, and Alberto Callaspo with 2. Mitch Maier had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Tigers didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Tigers mustered 2 runs, 7 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Paul Emmel, Scott Barry, Gary Darling and Bruce Dreckman. There were 26,457 Tigers ticket holders in attendance at Comerica Park.

The win puts the Royals at a record of 59-87, (19 games behind first place in the division), while the loss brings the Tigers to 78-68, still leading their division.
