Tigers defeat Twins at Metrodome

Tigers pitcher Nate Robertson (5.13 ERA) got the win, while Scott Baker (4.43 ERA) took the loss for the Twins. Nate Robertson went 5 innings for the Tigers, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Tigers was Zach Miner (4.41), Bobby Seay (3.54), and Fernando Rodney (3.82). The Twins’s starter Scott Baker went 4.2 innings, allowed 8 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with one walk and 5 strikeouts. Ron Mahay (4.53), Jesse Crain (5.04), Francisco Liriano (5.79), Jon Rauch (3.92), and Bobby Keppel (4.96) also pitched for the Twins. With the win, Robertson’s record goes to 2-2, while Baker drops to 13-9.

In addition to the 6 runs, the Tigers put up 13 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Tigers, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Twins didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Twins mustered 2 runs, 7 hits and one error.

The win puts the Tigers at a record of 79-70, at the top of their division, while the loss brings the Twins to 76-73, (3 games behind the division leader).
